Radical Acceptance

Mindfulness & Self-Compassion

We are now more than halfway through the summer months and it feels so delicious to be warm. People all around are alive and kicking, our senses are somehow intensified and pleasure is in the air. Yet, when it comes to work, it also feels harder to sit in front of a computer, to think too much or to even do admin.

The summer months call for presence and heart and my teacher Tara Brach talks about “Radical Acceptance” (also one of the title of her book). Literally opening or unguarding our heart to it all, feeling the pain, the joy, watching the imperfections and eventually, maybe  one day, feeling love for it all, especially our flaws.

As the controversial Osho said: “I love this world because it is imperfect. It is imperfect and that is why it is growing, if it was perfect, it would have been dead. Growth is possible only if there is imperfection.“

Can you imagine a life without growth or radical acceptant? Yet most of us live that way, at times rejecting magical parts of our being. Meditation, enables us to start accepting ourselves radically, through practice, coming back to the present moment, to what is, questioning our thoughts and finally letting go of whatever no longer serves us. I want to emphasise the word “practice” here because the magic spell will wear off without practice, just like most things in life do. Meditation invites us to meet the parts within that have felt abandoned and that need to be met and held.

If you feel called to know more, i have uploaded a new meditation and updated the events and workshop page. There is also a weekend retreat coming up in November, as well as guided meditations in Brussels and London.  I will be holding a circle in Brussels on August 24th as well as seeing people for individual sessions. I also work online too:) Do let me know if you have any questions.

In the meantime, may you enjoy these summer months, wherever you are in the world.

May they bring you joy, health and freedom.

Love
