The Colours of the Spectrum

Mindfulness & Self-Compassion

Good morning beautiful people,

I hope that you are safe and healthy, wherever you are in the world.

As we embark on a new Jewish calendar, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who keep reading, commenting, sharing and sending me your love week after week.

These posts are sometimes written the night before when I don’t feel I have anything left in me to give, and I apologise if it shows.

One thing that I have learned recently is the grey zone. I always went about with an all in or nothing kind of mentality, and though this fire is sexy, it can never keep burning at the same intensity. What if there was more reward for simply showing up, day after day with that is present, even if it means being in the grey zone at times, and having compassion for the parts within that cannot bare this lack of fire? What if the key was simply to keep going with all that is present for us?

On this note, I will invite you to take a deep inhale, feeling your feet on the ground and your chest expanding. How about breathing out now, and feeling the air moving out of your body.

As we pause together, I would like to invite you to contemplate on this year; whether it’s a Jewish year or school year, what a year! We went from dark, to grey, to even sometimes full light. And I guess, this is the spectrum we must navigate in as human beings.

May we all cruise at a speed that is nourishing, that is enriching and that keeps us going.

With love and deep respect,

Vanessa
