The Prison of Our Mind

Mindfulness & Self-Compassion

Good morning beautiful people,

I do hope that you are safe and healthy, wherever you are in the world.

A change in perspective has often been referred to as a Miracle. Spiritual teacher, author and politician Marianne Williamson  actually talks about “ a miracle being a shift in perception from fear to love, from a belief in what is not real, to faith in that which is. That shift in perception changes everything.”

We go from a state of fight with what is to a state of peaceful acceptance, communication and surrender and from there, we begin to see differently.

In meditation, a big part of the work is called inquiry: any thought that gives you fear, pain, pressure and that somehow doesn’t land within your peaceful self is asked to be inquired. Ie. Is it true? Can I actually know for sure that the thought I am telling myself is true? How does it make me feel when I believe this thought? How do I feel when I don’t believe it? And finally, is there another way to this thought or story?

There goes the miracle, we feel a strong shift from inner tension with what doesn’t land inside, to inner peace and acceptance with what is required of us.

The work of inquiry is actually called The Work, by Byron Katie. My intention here is not to bombard you with different names, but on the contrary, it is a gentle reminder that we when do The Work, something else is available for us, that takes us away from the fear and suffering created by the prison and conditioning of our mind.

Life happens when we are busy making other plans (JL), so my wish for us all today, is that we find the flexibility within to accept something that wasn’t part of our mental plan.

In case you do need a little hand, I am available for one on one sessions online. Thanks for letting me know how you are doing. I always love reading your messages.

With love and deepest respect,

Vanessa
